About The Oxx Foundation

What is The Oxx Foundation?

The Oxx Foundation, also known as Embracing The Journey, is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to supporting individuals and families navigating Parkinson's disease, chronic illness, and trauma. We provide community-driven programs, education, and advocacy rooted in trauma-informed, compassionate care.

Who founded the organization, and why?

The Oxx Foundation was founded by Michelle after her own Parkinson's diagnosis in 2020. Drawing on that experience, and her family's history with the disease, she built the foundation to help others living with Parkinson's find community, resources, and support so no one has to face the journey alone.

Who does the foundation serve?

We serve people living with Parkinson's disease, their caregivers, and their families — as well as anyone in the community who wants to advocate, learn, or connect around Parkinson's awareness and trauma-informed care.

Is The Oxx Foundation a registered charity?

Yes. We are a registered 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization, so contributions are generally tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We recommend consulting a tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

Programs & Support

What programs does the foundation offer?

We currently offer three ongoing programs:

  • Healing Through Creativity — art therapy sessions supporting emotional well-being, visuospatial skills, and self-expression.
  • Mind, Body & Motion — therapeutic movement classes including stretch therapy, yoga, POUND, and balanced ballet to support balance, gait, and mood.
  • Circle of Care & Connection — trauma-informed support groups, caregiver programming, and educational workshops.

Visit our Programs page for current times, locations, and registration links.

Is there a cost to join a program?

Program details, including any costs, are listed alongside each registration link on our Programs page. If cost is a barrier to participation, please contact us directly — we don't want that to stand in the way of anyone getting support.

Where and when do programs take place?

Our programs currently run in the Toms River, NJ area, including sessions at Tom's River Artist Community and Encompass Health. Schedules vary by program — check the Programs page for the most current dates and times.

Are caregivers and family members welcome, too?

Absolutely. Our Circle of Care & Connection support groups are specifically designed to welcome caregivers and family members alongside people living with Parkinson's, because the diagnosis affects the whole family.
