🧠 Parkinson’s Awareness & Trauma-Informed Care

Honoring the Whole Person in Every Diagnosis

At The Oxx Foundation, we recognize that a Parkinson’s diagnosis is more than a medical condition — it’s a life-altering experience that touches every corner of a person’s identity, relationships, and sense of safety in the world. That’s why our approach combines Parkinson’s awareness with trauma-informed care, building a community where people feel seen, supported, and empowered — not just treated.

🔶 Understanding Parkinson’s in a Deeper Way

Parkinson’s disease is often recognized by its physical symptoms — tremors, stiffness, slowed movement — but the emotional and psychological toll is just as real. From delayed diagnoses to inaccessible care, many individuals are left navigating uncertainty and isolation.

Our work focuses on raising awareness beyond the symptoms. We advocate for early recognition, accessible support, and a more compassionate healthcare system that sees the whole person behind the diagnosis.

🔶 Why Trauma-Informed Care Matters

Many individuals living with Parkinson’s and chronic illness have also experienced medical trauma, childhood adversity, or the emotional weight of caregiving. Trauma-informed care means understanding that healing isn’t linear — and that trust, safety, and community are essential parts of the journey.

We create programs and spaces rooted in the principles of trauma-informed care:

  • Safety & Empowerment

  • Voice & Choice

  • Connection over judgment

  • Respect for each person’s story and pace

Finding this community changed everything. I felt less alone, more informed, and finally — like I mattered again.
